Palestinian Children in Israeli Military Detention

The Save the Children report highlights the increasingly violent conditions faced by Palestinian children in Israeli military detention since October 2023. Children have reported being subjected to beatings, broken bones, and inhumane treatment, including starvation and abuse. There has also been an increase in overcrowded conditions and psychological abuse, such as threats of execution. Despite calls for reform, these practices continue, raising concerns about the long-term physical and emotional harm to the children involved.

What we know about how these children are being treated is unacceptable, but what we don’t know could be even worse. The government of Israel’s blanket secrecy has left hundreds of families across Gaza and the occupied West Bank completely in the dark, unaware of where their children are, whether they are safe and the conditions and treatment that they are being subjected to.
